Review:
I could have sworn I had already recced this, but apparently I just took it for granted that I had done so because this is one of my favorite SGA crossovers ever (not to mention one of the few SG-1 stories I actually like).

The story opens when Rodney McKay, world famous scientist and genius yadda yadda, is killed. Heh. The best part of the DLM universe is that no one's life gets interesting until they die. Anyway, Rodney finds out that he is a Grim Reaper in charge of escorting souls into the afterlife. Rodney is not impressed, especially not when he meets the rest of his crew: Jack O'Neill, Daniel Jackson, Ronon and, of course, John. Fortunately for Rodney, John takes him under his wing and soon Rodney is learning the ropes of his new profession and developing one hell of a crush on John (who doesn't exactly seem impervious to the interest). Things are starting to look up until John's miserable luck comes to bite them in the ass (Kolya, anyone?)

The brilliance of this story lies in the skillful way the SG characters are seamlessly blended into the DLM universe. Jack is great as the laid-back leader hiding secret tragedies in his past, Daniel is entertainly irrepressible, Ronon kicks ass as the practical Reaper who mugs folks when he's low on funds, and John is wonderfully enigmatic and plays off brilliantly against Rodney's usual snarky self. For those that have never seen Dead Like Me, don't worry. I hadn't seen it either until I read this fic (and promptly went out to rent the series. This story? Much better than DLM. But if you're a fan of DLM, watch out for a cameo from Deloris Herbig.) A quirky, surprisingly sweet, massively entertaining tale.

Side note: Since writing this review, I've discovered that another part has been posted and apparently there are plans for a fifth and final chapter. The quality of writing goes *way* down in Chapter Four, however, and the story stands well enough on its own at the end of the trilogy, so you might want to stop there. That's as far as I'm reccing, anyway (though the link below goes to the entire story as posted so far).

Somehow I never could never finish this story; I've probably read about a bit more than the first chapter... It's probably because I've read a House/Dead Like Me crossover and thought that one's much better (it's probably not true)
Here's the link (to the first chapter) if you want to go check it out. The story's called for every closed door. A bit angsty the first few chapters, but it's got a happy ending, so don't worry.

Sweet! I've downloaded the whole fic (17 chapters!) for future reading. Thanks for the rec!
